100-year anniversary

This 100th anniversary is a special reason to celebrate. It’s a sign of sustainable success. Founded in 1912 and celebrating 100 years of history this year, Printlink AG (formerly Vontobel Druck AG) is the Linkgroup production unit that specialises in high-end offset printing. It performs a key role as a production agency and media services provider within Linkgroup’s one-stop media production offering. We would like to take the anniversary as an opportunity to thank our customers, staff and suppliers. By systematically building our electronic media capabilities and using state-of-the-art technologies, we have become one of Switzerland’s leading providers of cross-media production services. Vontobel Kustverlag art publishing
1912 Heinrich Vontobel founds the Photochrom-Steindruckerei und Graphische Anstalt H. Vontobel & Co. lithographic printing press and graphical works in Meilen near Zurich. The photochrom process introduced in Switzerland by Vontobel enables the production of the first colour postcards in Switzerland. 1929 The company moves to Feldmeilen. The photochrom offset printing process, with up to twelve print cycles, enables highly sophisticated art printing. 1971 Sole proprietorship H. Vontobel & Co. is converted into the stock company Vontobel Druck AG. A new technical facility for reproduction and printing is built at the company’s present site in Feldmeilen. Under the leadership of Gottfried Brütsch the company vigorously expands its art printing operations. 1992 The printing and publishing companies are separated and Vontobel Kunstverlag AG is established. 1999 Elisabeth Schärer takes over as head of the publishing house.

Vontobel Druck AG
1992 Druckerei Wetzikon AG acquires Feldmeilen-based Vontobel Druck AG, a member of the Curti Medien AG group. It is merged with Druckerei Wetzikon AG’s job printing operations and housed in the building of the former form printing press on Haldenstrasse in Wetzikon. 1996 The company discontinues its printed matter business; the Vontobel Druck AG subsidiary is sold to Linkgroup, Zurich.
